shukran - thank you

ihh ter ah mik naf sik - behave yourself
I made Lisa teach me that last one on the plane when she was saying that sometimes Egyptian men come up to you and say "F--k me!" and things like that because you're a western lady, and I decided I wanted something sassy to say back instead of just blushing and being speechless. I haven't had to use it yet. I will post if I do. I hope I can pull it off.

YAY ARABIC! use it! you can also say, "LA BAS" or more common is "ZEYEK" for hi how are you... your response would be, "ANA KWAYISSA" which means I'm good... you can also say "KHALAS!" which means ENOUGH if you can't remember that last expression from Lisa. Dudes will get the point, especially if you yell it and turn the other way.
ReplyDeleteI MISS YOU AND WISH I WERE IN EGYPT W/ U! xoxo!
Ma'a salaaaaama (go in peace aka BYE!)
I am reading your Egypt posts in preparation for my own adventure (I am leaving on Thursday and will be there through June 15)! I am prepared to be thoroughly overwhelmed: we are trying to hit Cairo, Luxor and the Sinai. Erin, I can't believe I haven't seen you in like almost 3 months! I am enjoying catching up on the blogging and boda-boda stories. Can't WAIT until you get back to DC!
